Ford R7F7010643 (Encrypted) Airbag Repaired by CGDI CG100X

How to use CGDI CG100X Programmer to repair encrypted Renesas R7F7010643 Ford airbag?

Check the step-by-step guide below.

Model Info:

  • Vehicle: Ford Focus 2023
  • Restraint Control Module (RCM) Part Number: RJ7T-14B321-AB
  • Processor: Renesas R7F7010643 (Encrypted)

Main steps:

Step 1: Diagnose Airbag Module by CGDI CG70

Step 2: Repair Airbag with CGDI CG100X

Step 3: Verify the Repair by CG70

Make sure the CG100X software is V1.6.2.1 or above.

It can support Ford LV4T-14B321-XA R7F701A033 (encrypted), Ford RJ7T-14B321-AB R7F7010643 (encrypted), Ford LK9T-14B321-AA R7F7010643 (encrypted), and Ford MZ8T-14B321-AA R7F7010643 (encrypted) airbag repair.

In detail…

Step 1: Diagnose Airbag Module by CGDI CG70

1.Read SRS Fault Codes

Use the CG70 airbag reset tool or a diagnostic scanner.

Run CG70 software, select Ford and the appropriate part number. The software will display the wiring diagram.

Follow the diagram to connect CG70 tool to the airbag module (need to connect the GND, CANL, CANH and 12V cables)

Read the fault code successfully

2.Identify the Crash Data Issue

If fault code B1193 – Crash Event Storage Full and Locked appears, it indicates crash data is stored in the airbag control module (ACM/SDM).

This fault cannot be cleared with diagnostic tools, as it gives the error: “Cannot execute routine.”

Solution: Use the CG100X programmer to erase the crash data.

Step 2: Repair Airbag with CGDI CG100X

1.Understand Compatibility

CG70 cannot handle the encrypted R7F7010643 processor.

CG100X can decrypt and erase the crash data.

Note: OBDSTAR P50 can only diagnose this issue but cannot erase the crash.

2.Prepare the Setup

Run CG100X software, select Ford, and search for the part number. The software will display the wiring diagram.

Pay attention to the wiring setup.

3.Wiring Requirements

Remove one capacitor from the airbag module’s mainboard.

Use the following:

Important: Be cautious when desoldering the capacitor as it is very small.

4.Connect the Module

Use the D1 adapter to connect the SRS module and CG100X

Ensure the 5.10 kΩ resistor does not touch the board to avoid short circuits or communication failures.

5.Decrypt and Read Data

Begin decrypting the chip.

Read the chip’s DFlash and PFlash, and then save the data.

6.Repair Airbag Data

Confirm to repair the airbag data when prompted.

Write the repaired data back to the chip

Erase the crash data and repair the SRS module successfully now.

7.Recover Airbag Module

Disconnect all wires from the CG100X Programmer.

Re-solder the capacitor back onto the airbag module’s mainboard.

Step 3: Verify the Repair by CG70

Connect the airbag module back to the CGDI CG70 airbag reset tool.

Read the fault codes to ensure no crash data is stored.

Done!
