Flex Unlock Bosch MD1CS003 ECU via BOOT Glitch Mode

You no longer need to send out locked Bosch MD1 or MG1 engine control units for unlocking. Using the boot glitch method in Magic Motorsport Flex, you can perform the initial unlock on your workbench. Once completed, you can read and write the ECU directly in bench mode without repeating the procedure.
Below is the complete step-by-step unlock workflow using a locked Bosch MD1 CS003 ECU as a reference.
Step 1: Open the ECU Case
Remove all screws from the outer casing.
Carefully run a razor blade along the sealing edge to slice through the silicone adhesive.
Next, use a specialized ECU opening tool around the perimeter to lift the cover open.
Take extra care not to flex the board or pry against internal electronics.

After opening the casing, refer to Flex software wiring diagram for your exact module to locate the specific resistor that must be removed.

Step 2: Desolder the Target Resistor
Apply a small amount of liquid solder flux to the target resistor.
Apply heat to both solder pads using a fine-tip soldering iron or a hot air station, then carefully remove the component from the board.

Step 3: Connect the Hardware
Connect your Flex Box to the main Flex ECU tool, and attach the Magic FLX4.1 adapter to Flex Box.
Using the combined boot and bench cable harness, wire Flex Box to the Bosch MD1 CS003 ECU according to the pinout shown in the Flex user manual.

Step 4: Execute the Glitch Unlock Sequence
Open Flex software interface, press Connect to connect ECU, and then click Unlock to perform the ECU unlocking process.

Important Notes:

  • The automated glitch routine can take up to 25 minutes to complete.
  • If the process fails on the first run, restart the routine. Glitching the ECU processor often takes multiple attempts before it succeeds.

Step 5: Clean Up and Test

When the software confirms a successful unlock, re-apply flux and solder the resistor back onto its pads.
Check the solder joints with a digital multimeter to confirm proper electrical continuity.
The ECU is now permanently unlocked and ready for standard bench-mode reading and writing.
