2011 BMW 730Li MSV90 Fault Code Shutdown (DTC OFF) with CG FC200

After repairing the vehicle, we used the equipment to diagnose the ECU to report the fault code, the instrument flashed the fault light, and the hardware replacement data was re-written, but it still failed to solve the problem. At this time, we have to close the fault code by modifying the data value inside. Here take a 2011 BMW 730Li MSV90 DME as an example to show how to close (shut down) fault code by CG FC200 ECU Programmer.

BMW MSV90 ECM System and Function

Close fault code guide:

1.Open FC200 software, select BMW>> CONTINENTAL MSV90 TC1796>> Platform (Bench mode)

2.Check wiring diagram

Need to connect 12V, GND, CAN-L, and CAN-H cables

Connect FC200 ECU Programmer and BMW DME according to the wiring diagram properly

3.Read ECU

After connection, identify the ECU first, then read DFLASH and PFLASH data for backup.

4.Modify PFLASH data

Send PFLASH data to CGDI engineer (QQ: 800163968), they will modify the data for free, and send back the modified PFLASH data for writing.

5.Write modified PFLASH data

Write the modified PFLASH data into MSV90 ECU. Remember to do checksum correction automatically by CG FC200 no matter if DTC OFF or Power upgrade.

6.Check if DTC is off

After the data is written successfully, install the MSV90 DME back into the car. Use an OBD2 diagnostic scanner to check if there is DTC.
